Itā€™s the most wonderful time of the weeeeeeekk!

Hello fellow humans, today it is friday. Did you catch the game last night?

Lots of cool things this week, I know I havenā€™t been able to keep up with everything, but look out for the recap on sunday ;)

I hope you all are doing good, Here we have lots of snow, yay..

Letā€™s check what has happened today.

Here's today's zesty agenda:

  • X Releases Grok

  • Metaā€™s ā€œPurple Llamaā€ project

  • OpenAIā€™s latest models in Microsoft Copilot

  • Meta AI Image generator ā€œImagineā€

  • Mad Memes

X releases Grok

(Source)

Elon Musk tweeted yesteday that Grok, XAiā€™s ā€œchatbotā€ has been out for some time but only to select people. From today it is being rolled out to users with ā€œX Premum+ā€ on X (ex-twitter), in the US.

Me being a mere pleb and european, has to wait further to try this šŸ˜¢

Grok is a conversational generative artificial intelligence chatbot developed by xAI in response to the emergence of OpenAI's ChatGPT. Initiated by Elon Musk, Grok is designed with a sense of humor and direct access to Twitter, currently undergoing beta testing.

The term 'Grok' is derived from Robert A. Heinlein's 1961 novel Stranger in a Strange Land, signifying a deep form of understanding. Musk's motivation for developing this AI chatbot, initially named TruthGPT, was driven by concerns about ChatGPT being 'trained to be politically correct.' Grok, launched in November 2023, was previewed to selected users with early access limited to paid X Premium subscribers.

The chatbot is described as having a rebellious streak and an ability to answer spicy questions rejected by other AI systems, drawing comparisons to The Hitchhikerā€™s Guide to the Galaxy. Notably, it has been characterized as 'anti-woke' in its approach to sensitive topics, with Musk expressing reservations about training AI to be 'woke' or dishonest

Metaā€™s purple llama project

(Source)

Meta introduces the "Purple Llama" project, aimed at fostering responsible development in the open generative AI community. With over 100 million downloads of Llama models, Meta acknowledges the momentum in open models and seeks to build trust among developers. Purple Llama provides tools and evaluations for responsible AI development, adopting a collaborative approach inspired by cybersecurity's "purple teaming."

The initial focus includes cybersecurity tools, offering industry-wide safety benchmarks for Large Language Models. These tools address key risks such as insecure code suggestions and the generation of malicious code, aiming to reduce the frequency of insecure AI-generated code. Purple Llama also introduces input/output safeguards, recommending checks on all LLM inputs and outputs in line with content guidelines. Meta's commitment to an open approach is evident through permissive licensing, facilitating both research and commercial use. As Meta collaborates with partners to create a responsible AI ecosystem, Purple Llama marks a step toward standardized trust and safety tools in generative AI.

OpenAIā€™s latest models in Microsoft Copilot

(Source)

Microsoft is introducing upgrades to Copilot, its AI assistant embedded in Windows 11, aimed at improving text and image generation. GPT-4 Turbo and Dall-E 3 from OpenAI will join Windows 11 soon, enhancing capabilities for smarter, error-reduced outputs. Microsoft's deepened collaboration with OpenAI underscores its commitment to AI innovation.

In addition to Copilot improvements, Bing is set to roll out "Deep Search," utilizing GPT-4 to optimize results for complex topics. This feature, along with Multi-modal with Search Grounding, enhances the search experience, allowing users to submit images for detailed insights. Microsoft Edge users on Windows 11 will gain the ability to rewrite copied text via Copilot.

Me, a professional is running Linux šŸ˜Ž, but I can still access it via the web version of copilot. It can be found here.

Metaā€™s AI Image Generator ā€œImagineā€

(Source)

Meta just released their version of an ā€œImage generation toolā€, called ā€œImagineā€.

Very imaginative..

Previously confined to individual and group chats on Meta's social platforms, the Imagine tool is now freely accessible on the web for users across the United States.

Again why canā€™t we get nice things in Europe šŸ˜

To try the tool, visit Meta's Imagine website and log in with your free Meta account. Once logged in, the process mirrors typical AI image generators: describe the image you want, click Generate, and Imagine generates four images based on your description. To download, select your preferred image, click the ellipsis icon, and choose Download. Each image comes with a watermark, signifying its origin as an AI-generated creation.
